The one thing that has surprised me about all this is just how much of your stuff is selling, how quickly and the volume its going at.
Being a similar woodworker level, Im lucky to sell 1 or 2 items a week at a little to no mark up on the cost of the rare itself.
I really wish I had picked Tailor now instead.
Tbh i do have a 48th woodworker too and ive never had a problem selling stuff on her either, about the only TS class ive ever struggled selling stuf from (out of the ones i have) is weaponsmith thier sales are very low atm dont get me wrong stuff is selling but slowely.
Yeah, i agree with you, Leiela.
I have a weaponsmith, too and the stuff is selling much more slowly than from my jeweler or my carpenter.
Even my new tailor makes more profit than my weaponsmith, just created the Tailor because of your test ;)
Greetings,
Malador
I have a 45 provvy and a 35 jeweler. Both on Butcherblock and I gotta say that sales are no longer brisk. I have had some palladium bangles lieing around that are better than half the price of my old torques. Mark up is only a couple of gold pieces over the rare cost. I think with the removal of subs more end game crafters are willig to spend 2 or 3 minutes crafting a grey item for someone in a pinch.
Yeah it's true there is certainly no longer the profit margin on items anymore and something im learning is that in the new system comman items really have now value at all... and crafted rare seems to be the minimum and adventurer will accept.
from watching patterns on my server it seems to me at least that the nw system is making the rich richer and the poor poorer .. the market no longer has a place for the casual crafter.. undercutting is rife and only those with the dedication and time are really earning money.
Just a quick comment about the "bookworm experiment is not fair" crew......
as a result of your experiment I decided to create a pure crafter alt on a totally different server..... I have a carpenter (cos I figured as it is an RP server, if I am roleplaying a pacifist crafter properly she would not make anyting that could be used to kill/harm someone - that gave me a choice of provi/carp, and I HATE making food with a passion)..... she is making a nice profit - no risk of people buying stuff out of sympathy cos no one knows who she is...... different server etc and I have not told anyone else her ID...... OK most of her profit has come from sales of the lower tier (T1 & T2) rares that she has harvested - I found it more cost effective to sell them as the prices of the rare seem to go for more than the items made from it - plus it has meant that I have not had to fork out my hard-earned cash for the rare books... she is lvl 19 now just about to make her final profession selection and move up to the dreaded T3 slowdown...... it will be interesting to see if she can still make a profit in T3 with having to buy raws (getting to harvesting areas in TS and nek will prove interesting for a little lvl 7 asassin
1) "common". I twitch everytime I read it spelled "comman". :)
2) Seems like other crafters are seeing the same thing I saw as a sage. The rares sell for more than something made from the rare will sell for. Which leads me to 3...
3) I understand people can hate harvesting... but really, if you refuse to harvest, and insist on buying everything, especially rares, off the vendor, you are just choosing to make it hard on yourself. In fact, I'd say you are setting yourself up to fail. Harvesting, IMHO, is a key part of making money crafting.
I wouldn't agree you are setting yourself up to fail, bookworm is doing pretty well without harvesting.
And while ill admit there is certainly more profit to be made per item if you get the rare yourself, if you choose to buy your rares you can stock up your vendor far faster with a greater quantity of rare items buying them from the broker.. making your money though Quantity.
Currently im 15th on the rich list for my server not rich by some peoples standards i know however i can honestly say i haven't seriously gone out harvesting in well over 18 months occasionally ill pick up bits as i pass or while im waiting for people but i dont go out with the expressed perpose of harvesting.
